Diamonds
"Diamonds are a girls best friend" :)
Cut The diamonds cut is probably the most important factor when
evaluating a diamond. This is what gives a diamond the fire and
brilliance we all know of so well. A poorly cut diamond will not radiate
brilliance and fire because the lights rays usually leak out the sides or
the bottom. Almost all of the diamonds on our site have very good
cuts. Just ask us about a piece and we can look it up for you.

Color A colorless diamond is extremely valuable and this allows the
diamond to sparkle. Most jewelry on our site is D-I color diamonds and
fancy color diamonds which are beyond Z based upon the GIA scale.
D, E, F : Colorless
G, H, I, J : Near Colorless
K, L, M: Faint Yellow
N, O, P, Q, R: Very Light Yellow
S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z: Light Yellow
Clarity A clear diamond creates more brilliance and are more valuable. The following is the
GIA scale.
I3:  Inclusions are obvious to unaided eye
I2:  Inclusions can easily be seen with the unaided eye
I1:  Inclusions can be seen with the eye
SI2/I1:  Some inclusions may be seen with a trained eye
SI:  Slightly Included, small inclusions somewhat easy to see with a 10x loupe
VS:  Very Slightly Included, somewhat difficult to see with a 10x loupe
VVS: Very Very Slightly Inlcuded, very difficult to see with a 10x loupe
FL/IF: Flawless and internally flawless, no inlcusions or blemishes under 10x magnification.

The AGS uses a slightly different scale ranging from 0 to 10. Where flawless is 0 and for
instance 5 has some small inclusions.
Carat Weight This is the most basic character used to measure the
weight of a diamond. Certainly, larger diamonds are more rare and have
greater value. However, when comparing a 1.0 ctw diamond to a .95 ctw
diamond with an exceptional cut, clarity, and color. The .95 ctw diamond
would win any day in our store. Because it will have the fire and brilliance
that will stand out when you show that jewelry off.

                       Diamond Buying Guide

Batson of the American Gem Society, an organization dedicated to protecting the jewelry buying public,
suggests three steps when making a purchasing decision: choose a jeweler you can trust, become
knowledgeable in the 4 Cs and always ask for an AGS Diamond Quality Document©. For more information
and tips on buying the perfect and lasting diamond gift, shoppers may visit
www.ags.org.

Keep the following in mind:

Step 1: Choose a jeweler you can trust. Membership in the American Gem Society guarantees you are
shopping with a trusted jeweler. AGS jewelers pride themselves on ethics, knowledge and consumer
protection.

Step 2: Become knowledgeable of the "Four Cs" of a diamond. No two diamonds are identical; therefore -
Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat Weight measure the quality, uniqueness and price of a diamond.

Step 3: Always ask for an AGS Diamond Quality Document©. A diamond grading report from the AGS
Laboratory provides a complete grading analysis of color, clarity, carat weight and, most importantly, cut.
Included in the cut grade is information about proportions as well as polish and symmetry. This third-party
expert opinion is critical information needed to make the best possible buying decision.

"In order for a firm to become a member of the AGS they must meet exacting criteria, demonstrating their
gemological knowledge, reputation for and commitment to ethical business practices and professional
stability," said Ruth Batson, Executive Director/CEO, American Gem Society. "With credentials such as
these, shoppers can rest assured that they are in good hands with an AGS jeweler."

The American Gem Society, founded in 1934 by Robert M. Shipley, is a trade association dedicated to proven
ethics, knowledge and consumer protection within the jewelry industry. Members are held to the highest
ethical standards in the industry and must pass annual re-certifications to maintain their AGS titles.
